Find a comfortable position and close your eyes. Take a few breaths to settle, but don't make the breath your focus.
Instead of focusing on anything specific, let your awareness be completely open. Like a mirror that reflects everything equally, or the sky that holds all clouds.
Whatever arises—thoughts, sounds, sensations, emotions—let it come and go without grasping or pushing away.
Don't try to achieve any special state. Don't try not to think. Don't try to be present. Just be.
You're not doing anything. You're not going anywhere. You're not becoming anything.
This is sometimes called "non-meditation" because there's no technique to apply, no goal to achieve. Just open, spacious awareness resting as itself.
If you notice you've gotten caught in thought, simply relax back into openness. No need to make it a problem.
This is your natural state—aware, awake, at ease.
